Whew…what a summer! I can not believe it is almost Fall…my little man is turning 2 and I will be relaxing on the beach in less than three weeks in Cabo!!! Wohoo…the best part about Josh being so crazy busy in the summer is that just when the rest of the world is getting back to “normal” we go on vacation…just our way, I guess…a little against the norm.
Well, the studio is pretty much finished, we are still putting the final touches up on the walls…but that is an ongoing project, I am sure. Kari and I are making a trip to Canton next week for Fall furniture and a dressing/changing table for the dressing/nursing/changing room
The new website went live today…oh no…we’re not quite ready…but we should finish up by the weekend loading the galleries.
We are so excited about the cooler weather and Fall family sessions! I know it is hard to believe, but Christmas is just weeks away and the books are filling up fast for those sessions with gifts in mind, so please call the studio today 817-744-7818 to reserve your space. We have some GREAT gift ideas this year!
I have to part with this picture. I love it. How many times are we at a crossroads in life and can’t decide which way to go. They both seem the same, but something as simple as transposed sequence mean the difference in two complete opposite directions! I was on a country road in the middle of nowhere…and saw this and it really moved me.

It seems we spend so much of our lives looking at trust in a self-preserving sort of way…wondering if we trust this person or that person that we often forget the greatest gift you can give someone is your trust in them. I had today’s family on the books for a while, we kept having to move it around! When I texted directions to our “location” today…I got a text back, saying “is this it or should we keeping going…” to which I responded, yep, that’s it! Isn’t it awesome? Even the dad was was a little scared
But after the session when I called the mom to assure her the shots were worth it…she said “you know, at first I was a little concerned about the location but you have great vision and I trust your judgment!” Words to warm a soul to be trusted….
Enjoy

Golden curls…on my little man and his little friend…the only thing better would have been a cloudless sky to catch sunflair, but we had fun nonetheless
(Oh…and a kiss…we tried to get him to kiss her but he wasn’t interested, definitely didn’t get that from his daddy!)

The cool thing about the gift of photography is being able to capture things as you actually see them…but that can be a source of frustration, too…when you see an image and then carry it around in your head for years longing to create it!
It seems most adults do not care to have their pictures taken anymore…afterall, it is the childen’s photography segement that allows me to be in business, not my senior citizen group, but man, are we missing out on capturing history that is fleeting faster than we care to stop and think about. So, years ago, I sat on my grandmother-in-law’s back porch, over looking the lake, where so many of us cousins, aunts and uncles, and community friends that we call family sit at every holiday gathering…and I saw this image. A beautiful woman with a zealous love for life and an even greater love for her soulmate, Grandpa. I did not have the pleasue of knowing them as a couple, as he passed away suddenly, just before Josh and I married…but I have lived their love life vicariously through the many fairy-tale stories she has shared through the past ten years on that backporch.
I have longed to capture this scene that I carry in my mind for quite a while now…but I would never ask! Fortunately, she was recently asked to be interviewed for an article for our community and I was asked to take pictures of her…and I immediately knew the shot I wanted to capture, her laughter! I can not put into words what this picture will mean to me and hopefully all that love her for many years to come…

…and because I am not known as the funny-gal in our marriage…he is the funny-guy…he came to help me get that laughter…my love…may I be blessed to know a love as deep as your grandma and grandpa did.

It comes in waves…I am doing alot of work with bellies right now, which means babies are coming! I am actually reworking my maternity portfolio right now, trying to create a style that is less studio and more me…you know, the nature girl…country girl…whatever you want to call it, I had two super fun sessions today and a few more coming up. Here’s the late evening one…will add the morning shoot, shortly.

So, I had a few extra minutes this morning and decided to grab a Starbucks on my way to the office. Okay, for those of you that have had the pleasure of visiting my studio and my home…you know there is nothing on the way to my office. Okay, not nothing but just a few pastures, a golf course, the beautiful sunrise, all the sunflowers in bloom, usually a few turkeys, always deer and the lake! So, when I say, “I decided to grab a Starbucks on my way…” – what I really mean is I drove 12 minutes passed the road to turn on for my studio to grab a Starbucks and then back-tracked back to the office!
So, I am in line at Starbucks and always laugh at the southern-twang…why is it so much heavier and we are literally 15 minutes to Keller? I mean, most of my clients are “city-folk” that don’t live too far from me…but we’re in a time-warp out here…us country/lake/golf-coursing loving people! Sorry…so I am in line at Starbucks and I hand the lady my credit card for my $4.33 cup of coffee…yes, I am out of cash (sorry Dave Ramsey!) I notice her look at my card and I am like…um, yes? She says, “oh, I have seen your photography! It’s good stuff…” So, it’s great that she recognizes my name, from where I have no idea…and it’s even greater that it’s “great stuff…”
Thank you Starbucks lady…you have made my day.

Welcome to our new blog!!! And YES, my family desperately needs portraits…as this was our fall session last November! Soon, very soon…
It feels like Christmas around here…all the running around getting everything finished preparing for the busy holiday season that is quickly upon us!!! The paint is dry, the furniture has been delivered…and we even have most of our prints and canvases collections hanging now to help spur creativity in your proofing sessions. I am so excited to show off my new space…so book a studio session by the end of August and use your session fee as a credit towards a print collection or wall collection purchase!
I might even post a few from a session Saturday today…how about that?!?
